The S7 is a family of PLCs that allow users to choose the components they need best suited to their needs, and the long-term successor to the highly successful S5 range. The third generation of the S7-200 now builds on the prosperity of the pristine range and uses more incipient CPUs to build a more expeditious and more potent range of PLC.

In “freeport” mode the PLC’s RS-485 port runs in free ASC11 mode which makes it possible to communicate with other contrivances. Microwine programming software has been further developed to make the S7-200’s programming as user-friendly as possible, in line with Siemens’ objectives. All of these improvements help reduce program development time. This has been achieved through more and improvements to the existing “wizard”.
